The Hybrid Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (H-AEMT) course is for self-directed and self-motivated individuals seeking an advanced EMT certification. This course is a full Department of Transportation (DOT) Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) program.
This hands-on, intensive training course educates students in a wide range of skills and real-world scenarios and will satisfy eligibility requirements for National Registry of EMTS (NREMT) certification and most state licensure procedures. Onsite training will take place daily, including weekends, for nine days.
This course requires approximately 50 hours of pre-course online instruction and 9 days of in-person training.
50 hours ambulance rotations
National Registry of EMTs (NREMT)/ Department of Transportation (DOT) Initial Course Completion Certificate, allowing the student to take the NREMT cognitive and psychomotor exams.*
*Please note that passing the National Registry exam is required for AEMT Certification. The cognitive testing must be scheduled independently and performed at NREMT designated testing centers. NREMT psychomotor exams must be scheduled independently through individual state EMS offices.
3 years (AEMT)
18+ years old; high school diploma or equivalent; PPD (tuberculosis) test at a doctor’s office within six months of course start date; record of immunization or proof of immunity against Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR), Hepatitis B, Varicella, and Tetanus, ability to lift 250 pounds with assistance. Students must be currently registered with the NREMT at the EMT level, or hold a valid state license at the EMT level to enroll in this course.
Minimum Technical Requirements:
Students must be able to complete eLearning coursework on a computer that is able to use Adobe Flash Player and use one of the following browser versions: Internet Explorer 7.0 and above, Mozilla 3.5 and above, Google Chrome 1.0 and above, or Safari 4.0 and above.
Students are required to purchase and read Advanced EMT: A Clinical-Reasoning Approach (1st Edition) prior to arrival, which can be purchased here on Amazon. All other required textbooks will be provided at the course.
Non-residential; students responsible for food/lodging. Students should expect to spend the weekend on a clinical rotation. Please refer to schedule provided in student letters.
