After spending a month honing my medical expertise, I am changed forever. Not only was the content amazing, but the staff was as well. In addition to that was the fact that I was surrounded by a group of intelligent amazing students. My view on the world will forever be changed. I am now planning to take my education from pole to pole. Thank you RMI. Thank you instructors. This is a great program. It is very focused so be prepared to spend from dawn til dusk reading and studying. I think this course should be 6 weeks not 4 weeks. That aside the teachers were great and tried to teach students in away they all could understand. The students in this program are all there to learn whether they paid out of pocket or if their work paid for them. They all were really helpful and you kind of become a small family. As for the food despite what others have posted the food is awful. It was really plain and you pretty much ate the same thing over an over. The cooks only like garlic. I guess they have never heard of basil or cumin. I felt like the cooks were cooking for a summer camp and as much as we paid I would expect better food. Not to mention their laziness when it comes to preparing breakfast. They were huge fans of fruit and toast cereal mornings. As for the lodgings they are great. They are kind of hotel style each having it’s own bathroom, microwave, and fridge. One more thing, be prepared to have chores because they assign duties everyday for you to do. Sometimes it is dishes and sometimes it is vacuuming.

This is a great course taught by incredible instructors but there are some things I would change about it. It needs to be longer! There is too much to cover in such a short period of time and there needs to be more time for practice. The course would be ideal in a two segment structure.

I just finished the REMT course with RMI at the Tierra Lodge in Leavenworth, WA. It is a long course with a great deal of information to soak in. The first two weeks concentrate on lectures and learning the textbook. There are tests each Friday and the weekends are free time. There were a few scenarios and some skills training in the first two weeks, but most of this comes in the third week. The assessment triangle and the learning the information in the book to prepare for the NREMT exam seem to be the main thrust of the course. The final week is mostly skills review and testing including a final written and practical. The instructors were fantastic. Very well informed and presented the information clearly with plenty of time for questions and personal attention.

I loved this course! I really enjoyed the learning environment. Isolating ourselves from the distractions of the city was really helpful in getting a ton of information to sink in for the short amount of time available. The only part that was lacking is the some of the application/connection of the EMT skills to a wilderness setting. I was thankful I took the WFR first.

I really enjoyed the REMT course. Mostly because of the people I met, and the instructors that taught the class. It was a lot of fun.

Course was fantastic, food was great. Structure was a little disorganized, but instructors were very knowledgeable and clear, they also took great deals of time to answer questions.

R-EMT the E is for Excellent! Great course! One of the most rewarding and challenging months I’ve ever had!

Pros: high-quality instruction, didn’t skimp on the “wilderness’ aspect, extensive hands-on practice, great support during clinicals. Cons: for vegetarians food choices limited on weekends. I’m a big fan of condensed, boot camp style immersion classes to begin with. But to cram an obscene amount of material into four weeks in any meaningful way takes organization, commitment and talent, which instructors Jasmine, Nathan and Phillip had in spades. They were engaging and enthusiastic, backing up their knowledge with considerable real world experience. The course was well structured, with a mix of classroom learning and outdoor scenarios that ran from fifteen minutes to seven hours. This ain’t summer camp- nearly all of my spare time was spent studying for upcoming quizzes and exams. But being in an isolated location, with housing and food provided, helped minimize outside distractions. (A wonderful group of classmates/study partners bringing a wide range of skills and backgrounds to the table didn’t hurt either) tl:dr – If you can afford it, the class is exceptional. For many folks, me included, it’s a life-changing experience.

Pros: Experienced confident instructors, awesome living space.

Cons: I was disappointed with the food provided.

Overall the class was great… I am amazed at how much information was packed in to one month. I learned so much and had a really good experience. I am so glad I took the course.

Just completed the REMT course at Diablo. On repetition mode – READ MATERIAL BEFORE YOU ARRIVE.
Simple concept. This should be on anyones mind when you initially sign up for an accelerated course; really, not so completely farfetched. The amount of reading can be overwhelming, but if youre willing to pay $3700 for a course, then you should be willing to put out the effort. Read the “overview section” in the back of each chapter, and the key points at the beginning – both of these sections allow you to focus on key points for the NREMT. Furthermore – it was mind blowing that certain individuals in my course did not bother opening the book.
Anticipate being dumbfounded at the level of stupidity of some of the exam questions. Advice – keep it simple when answering the questions and dont get angry/argue with the instructors for things they CANNOT CONTROL. Avoid being that GUY in class that argues mute points regarding verbiage. It will frustrate you, but RMI does a good job of preparing you for what to expect on the NREMT – meaning, it will prepare you to be frustrated and question everything you do. Instructors are dialed in, experienced, and approachable. Some, more than others, like to let you in on some “cool stuff” but in the end is inevitably meaningless to your exams.
Do not touch the Auerbach book. What a waste. It’ll sit pretty on some peoples bookshelves for eternity. Go to Half Priced books – youll find mine there. Yes, it has valid backcountry points, but stick to the AOSS. NCI was AMAZING – great food, decent quarters, beautiful area.
RMI any day over NOLS; hands down. Good job, guys!

This course was incredible. I absolutely loved the hands-on experience and the invaluable knowledge I received from the instructors and fellow students. They did an amazing job with the fake blood and the night scenarios knocked my socks off. The friends I made at the course are the simply incredible and the kind you keep for life. Since I’ve taken the class, I’ve been able to use these skills in my personal life twice and made a difference in my career search. Best money I’ve ever spent.
